Drill Bit, Rock Drill
Introduction of new advanced machines and technology!

jumbo rock drill

Serrating through rock, a rock drill breathes life into holes. The most popular variation of rock drill is the rotary one, using a spinning bit to burrow away at the stone. But they can also be operated by means of compressed air, hydraulic power, or electricity.

In the mid-1800s, Alexander L. Dick made a revolutionary contribution to mining with the invention of his pioneering steam-powered rock drill. With its capability to produce holes for blasting in mines, it soon became an invaluable tool in the industry. Fast forward to 1876 when Charles F. Parmelee created something even more momentous – the first pneumatic rock drill that utilized compressed air and a piston to break through the hard surface of stone.

The early 1900s saw the emergence of an innovative invention: the hydraulic rock drill. This contraption harnesses hydraulic power for an extraordinary purpose: it penetrates rocks with utmost ease. Distinct from pneumatic rock drills, these hydraulic equipment are notably more powerful and capable of drilling holes at great depths.

In the late 19th Century, electric rock drills revolutionized the drilling industry. Boasting a superior force to pneumatic and hydraulic drills, these groundbreaking tools enabled hole drilling to greater depths. Driven to turn by electricity, electric rock drills became the go-to drilling option for many jobs.

Holes of varying depths and widths can be established through the utilization of a rock drill, employed in mining, construction and tunneling endeavors. These devices can spearhead the formation of spaces that span from several centimeters to multiple meters.

Drilling for resources is one of the most common purposes for rock drills. Such tools are used to create holes for blasting, which can come in multiple sizes ranging from a few centimeters to multiple meters in diameter. Usually, these cavities are produced with circular shapes.

Rock drills are widely used in construction activities, as they allow for the creation of holes in materials like rock for the purpose of securing systems. These holes can take the form of either a rectangular or oval shape, with diameters ranging from one or two centimeters to several meters. This is accomplished by using rock drills to set up necessary anchors, bolts, and other types of fasteners.

Rock drills are oftentimes sought out to construct tunnels, which rank third in terms of frequency. These mechanical devices act to bore oval or rectangular-shaped cavities of many lengths and widths – ranging from a couple of centimeters to multiple meters – for ventilation, illumination, and respective endeavors.

Jumbo rock drills are the most powerful drilling tools in demand. Used for both mining and construction projects, tunnels included, it’s no surprise how this type of rock drill is capable of creating round holes that can measure from a few centimeters to multiple meters across.
