In mining and construction applications where standard methods of drilling are not suitable, pressure drilling provides a convenient alternative. This approach utilizes a powerful jet of water to cut through solid rock, achieving effective results without the need for costly machinery.

After selecting the drill bit, the process of pressure drilling is initiated by punching a small opening in the rock. Subsequently, a high-pressure pipe is introduced into this newly made hole and copious amounts of water are directed towards the targeted area with vehement force. As a result, the rock is blasted apart while the water’s pressure forcefully displaces the rubble, thus forming an avenue for the drill bit.

Pressure drilling can easily puncture through hard bedrock, but it does come with certain pitfalls. The high water pressure could potentially wreak havoc on the surrounding rock and be quite an acoustic disturbance. Moreover, when haste is of the essence, this drilling process is not recommended due to its sluggish nature.
