Introduction of new advanced machines and technology!

track rock drills

Constructed atop strong, sturdy tracks, a track rock drill is specially designed to burrow its way into solid rock or concrete. Used for a number of purposes, from setting off explosives to laying down pipe, these robust machines are commonplace across many construction and mining projects, allowing easy navigation across the roughest of terrains as they tunnel and bore.

The incredible invention of the track rock drill in the late 19th century can be attributed to Joseph W. Fowle and his creative genius. This marvellous machine, powered by steam, ploughed through rock quarries to bore holes used for blasting operations. Later on, Fowle sold the invention to Ingersoll Rock Drill Company who began manufacturing and selling other versions of the drill as “Darda”.

At present, a multitude of corporations are manufacturing a wide array of track rock drills from compact, handheld variants to heavyweight alternatives that can construct cavities up to several feet in breadth. These offerings come in both electric and diesel forms.

For rock and concrete drilling, most track drills utilise a percussion mechanism to generate a decisive hammering effect and thereby break the material down into smaller chunks. Subsequently, the drilled holes are formed with a rotary motion. Furthermore, certain models incorporate a revolving cutting head that can slice through rocks or concrete efficiently.

As versatile tools, track rock drills have many uses – from drilling tunnels for water or utility lines to excavating minerals during mine operations. In quarries, they are essential for providing the foundation on which roads or other structures are built. The process begins with the drilling of holes in a grid pattern, which then creates the rubble needed to build quarries’ features.

Track rock drills are a commonplace sight in construction settings, as they are both versatile and powerful, making them well-suited to the task of installing utility lines and pipes. Depending on the job, these drills can bore through either vertical or horizontal paths – for instance, digging a route for water or sewage pipelines horizontally in the ground, or placing an electrical conduit in a vertical fashion.

Track rock drills make for an effective mining tool, particularly when it comes to operations that take place beneath the surface. These drills can be used to establish ventilation shafts that serve as a vital mode of air circulation deep underground. Furthermore, track rock drills can be used to access mineral deposits too far down the depths to be reached through surface mining, and they also create tunnels for transporting material out of the mine.

Operators of track rock drills must ensure safety protocols are carefully observed. Appropriate instruction on the correct use of the machine is imperative, and it is necessary to apply lubrication to the drill bit to avoid excessive heat. It is also critical to keep a safe distance from power lines carrying potentially lethal voltages.
